One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. -Psalm 145:4-7

The word testimony comes from the Latin word testis, meaning “witness”. We’ve all heard the stories about someone that goes through so much turmoil that we are overwhelmed with joy when they finally accomplish what they want. This can be a woman waiting years to finally have a child or promotion that was ten years in the making, or someone overcoming a horrible illness. We all love a happy ending in which the underdog wins. These testimonies can be powerful and inspiring.

Testimonials impact the way we see the world. Sharing how God has impacted your life can provide hope for someone in despair. Remember that testimonials are not just meant for Sunday mornings. They can be done anywhere–from a baby shower, coffee chat with a friend, or conversations with a stranger on your way to work. By sharing your testimony you reawaken the faith in all of us.

Testimonies give others hope. You may not be the only one who’s been waiting on a promotion. Maybe you’re out of debt after taking financial stewardship course, imagine the hope you will give those on their debt-free journey. Maybe you are finally able to support young people with their education. These are all powerful testimonies, from providing generational wealth to ensuring the well-being of our future leaders.

That is why you should share your testimonies with others whenever you can. The blessings of God are abundant and a reminder to others that their blessings are on the way. That they need not look far to witness God’s blessings in our lives.
